The past few days have been horrible news for San Diego residents as multiple fires blazed the county. Being a former resident and having friends actually witness the devastation over there, is really depressing. We're pretty lucky up here in Sacramento especially with the beautiful low 80 degree weather as of late. Its just a matter of time before this heat wave blows right through.

In rec sports, the Fighting Bens lose in the Folsom Softball Championship while Team Brenneman end up winning their Roseville Basketball Championship click here. The NBA season is underway and will begin Monday, October 30th. The Kings play New Orleans on the 31st and haven't really done any major roster changes surprisingly. The Broncos barely beat the Steelers last Sunday night, 31-28. After trailing throughout the game, Big Ben tossed a couple TDs late in the 4th; however, Elam's last second field goal won it for the Broncos. In fantasy football, I lost all of my leagues! Now I'm 4-3, 4-3, 3-4! I knew my luck would run out soon.

Fall is definitely here! Its been pretty cold the past few days with rain. That means skiing season is coming early this year. Other than the weather nothing much going on here in Sacramento. In rec sports, the Fighting Bens' championship game was postponed due to rain. Team Brenneman's championship game is next week. Lenin's Make it Rain basketball team are still undefeated. You can get more rec sports info by clicking here. Last weekend I lost all of my fantasy football matchups and am now: 4-2 (t-1st), 4-2 (t-1st), 3-3 (5th).

For all you Harry Potter fans...

Looks like we're going to finally see some rain in the valley this week, but you never know nowadays with the weather reports. Last weekend we ended up going to the LPGA tournament in Danville near the Bay Area. The event was pretty cool as we had the chance to see top ranked Ochoa, Gulbis and many others. Watched Pacquiao beat Barerra into retirement...too bad this fight didn't happen a few years ago. Last saturday was also the I-5 tennis challenge between the Natomas and Laguna racquet clubs. Natomas ended up losing the event. As for my matches, I started off slow and then finally started playing toward the 2nd and 3rd sets. I have also updated the news section of my website. Now you just click on the date to expand the content instead of scrolling down.

In other sports, the Kings play their first pre-season game tonight. Broncos lose to the Chargers who finally snap their slump. Steelers shutout the Seahawks, 21-0. The Yankees lose their playoff series to the Indians in Game 4 and perhaps their longtime coach, Joe Torre. In fantasy football, I lost in 2 of my leagues. My current record is 4-1, 4-1, 3-2

Its October and the weather here in Sacramento is finally pleasant fall temperatures. Not looking forward to the rain but we need it. Brew and Tiffany are in town for the weekend from New York and will actually leave tonight. Congrats to them on their engagement! Added the new calendar for October today. In sports, it looks like I was wrong on my NL predictions as the Mets lose their chance at a playoff spot after being up 7 games on September 12th and the Padres lose their 1 game playoff to the Colorado Rockies. Preseason finally begins this week for the NBA. The Steelers and the Broncos lose Sunday. I too finally lost in one of my money fantasy leagues. I'm now 4-0, 3-1, 3-1.
