June 25, 2006:

Just as I predicted the Heat wrapped up the Finals last Tuesday, with Wade being the MVP. The weeks been pretty hot at a constant 100+ degrees. I wasn't able to attend my class reunion yesterday. Lenin has some pics so I'll post them here soon. Las Vegas trip is coming up this Thursday. Should be a fun outing with the boyz.

Rec Sports:

  1. Lenin's RKD won their game vs. Freak Nasties, 56-44. The game ended earlier due to complaining by the opposing team. Next game is July 2 @ 2:30 vs. G&I.
  2. We Need Skillz snap a 2 game losing steak with a nailbiting extra inning win vs. Bad Apples. Next game is June 29 vs. Red Dogs.
  3. Maier's Men's League win by forfeit and increase their record to 4-1. Next game is June 27 @ 8:30pm.

Reached the 100s this weekend. Luckily Mark has a boat and we went wakeboarding on Saturday at the lake. Finally getting the hang of pulling up on the line. Miami is 1 more game away from winning the championship. I think they'll finally wrap up the finals Tuesday. Garnett for Miller, Thomas, Wells, and a 1st round pick? I think the Kings should go for it. It'll be interesting to see what happens next season. Added a featured games section to the homepage.

As for Rec Sports:
We Need Skillz is on a 2 game losing streak and hold a .500 record. Next game is Thursday, June 22 @ 6:30pm vs. Bad Apples.
Lenin's Rex Kwon Do are 1-4 with a 3 game losing streak. Next game is Sunday, June 25 @ 3:30pm vs. Freak Nastys.
Chris Maier's Mens Softball Team are 3-1 and will play Tuesday, June 20 @9:30pm.

June 12, 2006:

Another busy weekend: Jaq's Birthday, Tram's sister's graduation, and last but not least... Rog & Suzie's Wedding! Attended Theresa's graduation from Mira Loma H.S. on Friday. Kinda reminded me of my own graduation a decade ago. Just glad all that adolescent drama is over. Afterwards, headed over to the Streets of London bar in downtown and met up with a few of the homiez for Jaq's birthday.

The next day I drove up to Yosemite for the wedding. Met some of their friends and families...all of them were really cool people. We stayed at the Wawone Hotel, well known for its Victorian structure. The hotel was pretty cool only we had the room without a bathroom, which kinda sucked but worked well. The wedding was held the next day at a chapel located in Yosemite valley. A beautiful location, but only one drawback: the mosquitoes. These aggressive bloodsuckers were hard to keep off. Even with the mosquito spray, these guys just kept digging for gold. The ceremony was held at the Wawona Hotel. In German traditional weddings, the newly weds have to saw a log in half before entering the celebration. They also play a few games (ex: newly wed game), the parents perform a skit about how the couple met, drink, dance and then cap it off by lighting sparklers. The whole celebration was a great experience.

Did a little sightseeing on Monday in Sequoia Grove before heading back home. I took a few pics from their wedding, you can view them here. Congratulations to Roger and Susann Santos!!

June 4, 2006:

Just got back from the Lake Berryessa Camping trip. Never been to this spot before but its a lot better than Folsom Lake. Less crowded no tree logs floating on the water, just better overall. Special thanks to my sis who organized the event. Food was terrific! We pretty much had everything from BBQ chicken, Grilled Sandwiches, Chocolate Meat, Strawberry shortcakes to Korean BBQ!! We had a lot of food and drinks left over. Went wake boarding for the first time and actually stood up for about 8 seconds before taking a spill. Paid for it later with a bad sunburn. The campsite wasn't too bad either, as you can see from the pictures we were right next to the lake. The neighbors were a bit rowdy and inconsiderate at times (considering we had a lot of children), but the overall experience was great.

Looks like its going to be Dallas Mavericks vs. Miami Heat in the finals. Since I hate Mavericks' owner Cuban, I'm rootin for the Heat in 5 games with Wade as the MVP.
