Halfway through January. A lot of birthdays this month, so check out the calendar to make sure you don't forget anyone. And if I forgot someone then please email me. A little over a week ago we had some really terrible weather in NorCal. Wind gusts so high that they blew down trees, knocked over 18-wheelers and blew the shingles off of roofs. Imagine how tough it must be to live in the south, primarily hurricane country. I know this storm doesn't compare to an actual hurricane but it definitely resembled a tropical storm. Might be a hint of things to come in the future... who knows.
In sports, my Steelers are out of the playoffs when they couldn't contain a 4th and 2 quarter back rush at their 45 yard line. Here are the teams playing for the AFC and NFC finals: Giants vs. Packers, Patriots vs. Chargers. I would definitely like the Chargers to win but I have a likely feeling it would be Packers vs. Patriots in the championship. The Kings finally get Bibby, Artest and Martin back for the first time this season. Unfortuneately they lost on the road against the Raptors in an embarassing game 116-91. The Kings are currently 15-22 and 11 games behind the division leading Lakers. The Australian Open just kicked off a couple days ago. My pick for the Mens: Federer; for the Womens: Serena.
Happy New Year everyone! Still can't believe its 2008! Then again I can't believe I'm in my 30s! The theme this year for us is "freedom". Some of our goals include paying off wedding debt and hopefully a house. Of course my other goals are to be in great shape and to do at least 2 marathons this year one of them being the San Diego marathon. This past new year was our annual New Year football game. Not suprisingly, the team that I was on won again!
In sports, Kings win an easy victory on the road against the Knicks as they improve their record to 12-18. In the NFL, the Patriots win a close game against the Giants to be the 2nd in NFL history to go 16-0. Here's this weeks wild card matchups: Redskins at Seahawks, Jaguars at Steelers, Giants at Bucaneers, and the Titans in San Diego. This will be a tough matchup for my Steelers but I think they'll pull out with the win! I won the championship in my old work league, too bad it wasn't for $$$. Oh well...
Here's a cool clip of 2008 new year celebrations from around the world...
